Rachel is a Utah native who grew up when monarch butterflies were plentiful. She has spent the past decade as a “Citizen Scientist”, planting milkweed, attracting and tagging monarchs, and gaining expertise in the area of monarch conservation.

She founded “Utah Friends of Monarchs” (a Utah 501c3 corporation) and shares native milkweed seeds freely throughout the state, offering presentations on “Saving the Monarchy” to organizations ranging from gardening groups to Red Butte Garden, and Osher Lifelong Learning to the program she created with the Decker Lake Youth Corrections facility in trade for them growing milkweed seedlings to give away.

She is currently Utah's Conservation Specialist for MonarchWatch.org, the mothership of all things monarch. Utah Friends of Monarchs is an active partner of MonarchJointVenture.org.
